I had the privilege and honour of knowing Alan for the last 13 years; I wish I had known him for much longer.
After first meeting Al on a NEBOSH Diploma course we soon became friends and together with Andy and Donna suffered the trials and tribulations of trying to pass the dreaded exams, finally succeeding.
Al had every desirable attribute, charisma, charm, humour, compassion and much, much more, rare qualities in one man, he must have been first in the line when these qualities were handed out. Al had presence when he walked into a room.
After the NEBOSH days we all kept in touch and would regularly meet up for an evening, enjoying a meal together. Al especially loved Patrick’s in Mumbles and loved the wild mushrooms. Al used his boundless charm to get larger portions, it never failed.
When my wife met Al she soon realised he had unique qualities and loved his company.
Everyone should have a friend like Al, and everyone should aspire to be the friend Al was to many. Not everyone was fortunate enough to have Al as friend, we were.
He will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing this lovely man. He enriched the lives of all who knew him.
